Bhubaneswar: Burglars decamped with gold ornaments worth around Rs 30 lakh from a house at Paika Nagar under Nayapalli police limits in Bhubaneswar late on Sunday.
According to sources, the loot was reported from the house of one Nirupama Sahoo, who was on a religious trip to Shirdi when the burglars struck.
“This is my sister’s house and she left for Shirdi two days back. Her daughter-in-law with a baby was alone in house but they left for her brother’s house around 11 pm since she did not feel face. On returning home at around 5 am, she found the burglars had entered the house by breaking the terrace door and made way with gold jewelleries kept in the locker,” Nirupama’s brother told the media.
He said that the gold jewelleries were kept in the house since there was wedding in the family recently.
On being informed, Nayapalli police along with scientific team arrived at the scene and launched an investigation.
