Bhadrak: Police have busted a gang of inter-district burglars’ gang and arrested its five members and four receivers.
According to police, acting on a complaint filed by a person of Deulapala village under BHadrak Rural police station about burglary of household items including gold jewellery, a team headed by OIC Alok Jena was formed to investigate the case and nab the robbers.
Following investigation, the police team arrested 5 members of the gang and 4 persons who used to purchase the stolen items. The police also seized 312 gram of gold ornaments and more than 4 kg of silver materials from them. Besides, 3 bikes, mobile phones and a toy gun were seized from their possession.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Bhdrak, Yatin Panda on Friday said the gang was active in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Balasore, Dhenkanal and Bhubaneswar. The burglars also mortgaged their stolen gold and silver jewellery in a financing company and obtained loans, he added.
All the arrested persons have been forwarded to court. “We are investing to ascertain involvement of others in the crime,” Panda said.
