Cuttack: A man died while his wife was critically injured during a burglary at their house at Lendura Bhagabanpur village under Nemal police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district late Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Hrusikesh Muduli. His wife Kanakalata has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.
According to sources, the miscreants entered the house around 1 am. They attacked the couple with sharp weapons when they resisted and decamped with gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. They spared the couple’s children and locked them up in another room.
Meanwhile, police have started an investigation and efforts are to identify and nab the culprits.
