Dhenkanal: Rising cases of theft and burglary have robbed the sleep of residents in Kamakshyanagar Town of Odisha’s Dhenkanal district. The area has reported a series of such cases in the last four days. Interestingly, one such incidents was captured in a CCTV camera on Sunday night.
According to sources, a gang of four thieves broke into the house of one Jitendriya Nayak in a colony close to the Kamakshyanagar bus stand at around 1 am, Sunday. The family members of Jitendriya were away in Balasore to attend the wedding ceremony of a relative when the thieves decamped with valuables, gold and silver jewelries, apart from Rs 80,000 in cash.
The CCTV camera in the house has captured the burglary by the miscreants. Following a complaint in this regard, police have started an investigation into the incident and are examining the CCTV footage so as to ascertain the identity of the accused.
Following a series of such incidents, locals have expressed concern and demanded that police patrolling be intensified in the area.
