Rourkela: A bus carrying Odisha students from Kota, Rajasthan, was detained by locals at Rourkela for over three hours on Wednesday.
Locals objected to the students returning home in the city without informing the authorities and proper screening. Twelve students had reportedly gone home after alighting from the bus at Sector 2. There were 25 students in the bus, sources said.
On being informed, the municipal authorities took the remaining students for screening and health check-up. Besides Rourkela and Sambalpur, there were students from Angul, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada and Nuapada in the bus, the sources added.
Health check-up of the 12 students, who had returned home, will also be conducted, the municipal authorities said.
Following relaxation in inter-state movement, four buses from Kota with students had earlier arrived in Rourkela and proper arrangements were made to receive them at the airstrip with a team of doctors.
