The police subsequently sent Namita’s body for post-mortem and it was confirmed that it was a homicidal death. A case was registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by the woman’s son.

The Lingaraj police had been on the lookout for Samarendra since December 2021 and on Saturday they received information that the accused was travelling by a private bus to Balasore.  Accordingly, a team from Lingaraj police station waited for him at the Balasore bus stand and nabbed him when he reached there, police added.
