Cuttack: The Cuttack RTO on Monday slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on a bus driver for allegedly driving the vehicle in an inebriated condition. The bus driver was going to Kolkata from Cuttack.
Chauliaganj Police identified the driver as Prafulla Chandra Muduli from Nayagarh and said he was fined after the mandatory breath analyser test.
The bus was detained at the police station and the owner, Ranubala Mallik was instructed to guard the vehicle at the police station at his own cost till finalisation of the case.
It may be mentioned here that, Odisha State Transport Department (STA) had announced no violator of traffic rules will be spared.
As per official sources, a massive crackdown on violators and strict enforcement of the amended Motor Vehicles (MV) Act 2019 will begin from January, 2021.
The enforcing authorities have been asked to adopt zero tolerance towards any kind of violation of traffic norms in the State.
