Bhubaneswar: Following a steep rise in fuel prices in the international market, the Odisha government on Wednesday effected a hike in the fare for all categories of buses under the automatic fare adjustment mechanism.
According to a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport department, the fares of ordinary and express buses have been increased by two paise per km, while that of deluxe and AC deluxe buses will be dearer by four paise per km.
The fare for the ordinary bus will now be 72 p/km as against 70 p/km while that for express bus fare will be 75 p/km instead of 73 p/km.
Besides, deluxe category buses will now charge Rs 1.05 as against Rs 1,01 p/km while passengers travelling in AC deluxe buses will have to pay Rs 1.27 per km as against Rs 1.23 per km.
