Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday slashed the bus fare for all categories under automatic fare adjustment mechanism following a fall in the price of diesel.
According to a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport department, the fare for the ordinary and express buses has been reduced by 2 paise per km while that for deluxe and AC deluxe buses the fare by four paise per km.
As informed by the State Transport Commissioner, the fare for the ordinary bus will be 70 paise per km as against 72 paise while that for the express category, the fare will now be 73 paise as against 75 paise per km.
Besides, the deluxe category buses will now charge Rs 1.01 per km as against 1.05 per km while the passengers travelling in AC deluxe buses will pay Rs 1.23 per km as against Rs 1.27 per km earlier.
