Bhubaneswar: In view of the steep rise in fuel prices, the Odisha government on Monday hiked the fares for all categories of buses under the automatic fare adjustment mechanism.
According to a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport Department, the fares of ordinary and express buses have been increased by one paise per km, while that of deluxe and AC deluxe buses will be dearer by 2 paise per km.
The fare for the ordinary bus will now be 73p/km as against 72p/km and the fare for express bus will be 76p/km instead of 75p/km.
Besides, deluxe category buses will now charge Rs 1.07 as against Rs 1.05/km while passengers travelling in AC deluxe buses will have to pay Rs 1.29/km as against the earlier Rs 1.27 per km, the notification added.
