Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday hiked bus fares for all categories under the automatic fare adjustment mechanism following a rise in the price of diesel in the international market.
According to a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport department, the fares of ordinary and express buses have been increased by one paise per km, while that of deluxe and AC deluxe buses will be dearer by two paise per km.
As per the notification, the fare for the ordinary bus will now be 69 p/km as against the previous 68 p/km, and 73 p/km instead of 72 p/km for the express category.
Besides, deluxe category buses will now charge 99 p/km as against 97 p/km, while passengers travelling in AC deluxe buses will pay Rs 1.21 per km as against Rs 1.19 per km earlier.
