Tangi: The driver of a bus, carrying migrant workers from Andhra Pradesh amid nationwide lockdown 3.0, died after the vehicle rammed into a truck on NH-16 near Kuhudi Chhak on Tuesday morning.
The migrants had a close shave in the accident, which took place while the bus was en route to Khurda. About 40 workers were travelling in the bus, sources said.
It is suspected that the bus driver lost control over the vehicle as it dashed into the truck and veered off the road. Tangi fire services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers. Two migrant with minor injuries have been admitted to Tangi hospital.
This is the fourth accident involving migrants of Odisha. Two workers were killed and several injured after a bus with migrants from Surat overturned on Kalinga Ghati in Khadhamal district on Saturday. The next morning saw another accident on the same stretch after a bus again from Surat hit a truck and then the roadside barricade on the circuitous hilly terrain.
Another five natives of Odisha were injured when a bus overturned on Nagpur-Amaravati national highway on Sunday.
