Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government on Saturday increased the bus fares across all categories after hike in fuel price. The fares have been revised under the automatic fare adjustment mechanism for the third time this year.
According to a notification issued by the Commerce and Transport Department, the fares of ordinary and express buses have been increased by 3 paise per km, that of deluxe and AC deluxe buses has gone up by 6 paise and the super premium buses by Rs 1.53 paise per km respectively.
With this, the fare for the ordinary bus will now be 92 p/km against 89 p/km and the fare for express bus will be 96 p/km instead of 93 p/km.
Besides, deluxe category buses will now charge Rs 1.35/km as against Rs 1.29/km and the passengers travelling in AC deluxe buses will have to pay Rs 1.63/km against the earlier Rs 1.57/km while those travelling in super premium buses will have to pay Rs 3.97 per km as against Rs 2.44/km earlier, the notification added.
The Department had earlier hiked the bus fare on February 8.
