Bhubaneswar: Buses from Baramunda bus stand plying to different locations via Cuttack will no longer pass through Vani Vihar and Acharya Vihar Squares in the city.
The Police Commissionerate in a statement on Monday said that the buses will instead use the flyover on NH 16 in front of Crown Hotel till the bus bay at Satsang Vihar.
The new move aims at decongesting Vani Vihar and Acharya Vihar Squares, where buses usual stop to pick passengers creating unnecessary jams.
Violation of the order will be punishable under Section 96 of the Odisha Urban Police Act 2003 and the violators will be fined Rs 1,000, it added.
Taking note of the heavy traffic rush along the National Highway here, the Commissionerate Police had earlier identified two new bus stops. The buses were to halt at the bus stop near Crown Hotel and from there to the next one at Satsang Vihar over the flyover.
Today’s statement reiterated the earlier move.
