Dhenkanal: A businessman was found dead with his throat slit at his residence in Patnaik Sahi under Town police limits in Dhenkanal district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Mantu Patra, a native of Medinipur in West Bengal who ran a jewellery store.
According to sources, a group of unidentified miscreants barged into his house and slit his throat with a sharp weapon while he was asleep in a suspected revenge bid. He died on the spot.
Stab wounds were also found on his chest, stomach and other parts of the body.
Locals informed the police after coming to know about the matter.
“Mantu used to run his business with the help of two persons from his native place. We are investigating the case from all angles and efforts are on to nab the killers,” Dhenkanal SDPO Santosh Kumar Nayak informed.
