Businessman Found Dead Under River Bridge In Odisha; Probe Underway



Balangir: Police recovered the body of a young businessman from beneath a bridge over the Tel River in Titilagarh subdivision of Odisha’s Balangir district, and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The deceased has been identified as Nataraj Thanapati, a resident of Deulgudi under the jurisdiction of Tushura police station.

According to preliminary information, the body was found during late-night patrolling on Friday when officers noticed a motorcycle parked suspiciously on the bridge near Tushura. On s

earching the area below, they found Thanapati’s body lying under the bridge. His identity was later confirmed and his family members were informed. The body was sent for post-mortem examination on Saturday.

Police said Thanapati was engaged in businesses in the locality, though details of his movements prior to the incident remain unclear. Investigators are examining whether the death was the result of homicide, suicide, or an accidental fall. No official conclusion has been drawn at this stage.

A case has been registered at Tushura police station, and officers are questioning local residents and family members as part of the probe. The motorcycle found on the bridge has been taken into custody for examination.

Authorities have stated that forensic and post-mortem reports are awaited, which will help determine the exact cause of death. Further clarity is expected once medical findings and evidence collected from the spot are analysed.
