Bhubaneswar: An eatery owner was found dead under mysterious circumstances with his throat slit on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Biswajit Nayak (42) of Sagua village under Balianta police limits. He is suspected to have been killed by unidentified miscreants with a sharp weapon, police said.
According to sources, Nayak was owner of a small eatery at VSS Nagar in Bhubaneswar. He had been to the village a few days ago. Instead of staying with his father, he was living in a separate house in the village. When his younger brother Ranjit telephoned him there was no response. His brother then asked another person to visit the house and subsequently Babu was found lying dead in a pool of blood with his throat slit.
On being informed, a police team recovered the body for postmortem and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances which led to the death. While a case under section 302 of IPC has been registered, a woman, who works in an ashram in Puri, has also been detained on the suspicion of committing the crime.
Police said that she often visited Nayak’s house and some neighbours had seen her with him a few days back.
Sources further said an injury mark on the deceased’s face. A blood-stained wooden plank was also found in the house and tussle marks in the room from where his body was recovered.
