Bengaluru: A 47-year-old businessman man who shot himself here on Sunday mentioned in his suicide note that harassment by six people, including a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, was the reason for taking the extreme step.
Police said Pradeep was found dead with a bullet injury to his head at Nettigere village, near Bengaluru, while the suicide note was found in his car.
The Whitefield resident, identified as S Pradeep, had invested Rs 1.2 crore in a Bengaluru club in 2018 following an offer by two of the men he named in the suicide note. The duo had promised to pay him Rs 3 lakh as profit and Rs 1.5 lakh as salary every month, The Times of India reported.
After taking the money from Pradeep, however, the two men — Gopi and Somiaha — refused to pay back the businessman for several months, the suicide note mentions. The note also states that the businessman had to take multiple loans to repay the interest and also had to sell his house and agricultural land.
Pradeep then approached BJP MLA Aravind Limbavali for help. The Mahadevapura legislator spoke to the two men, but they said they would return Rs 90 lakh only, as per the note, reported India Today.
The note has also accused Dr Jayaram Reddy of filing a property-related civil case against Pradeep’s brother and of mentally torturing and harassing the businessman.
Naming Limbavali among the six responsible for his suicide decision, Pradeep accused the BJP leader of supporting the men who did not return his money.
