Bhubaneswar: Kidambi Srikanth became the third Indian shuttler to reach the semi-finals of the men’s singles category of BWF World Championship with a convincing 21-8, 21-7 victory over the Netherlands’ Mark Caljouw late on Friday.
Another Indian, Lakshya Sen also prevailed after a nail-biting three-setter in the second men’s quarterfinal contest. Unseeded Sen defeated Chinese Zhao Jun Peng 21-15, 15- 21, 22-20.
However, there were disappointments for HS Prannoy and PV Sindhu. Prannoy bowed down 14-21, 12-21 to Singapore’s Kean Yew Loh in the last quarterfinal of the day.
Sindhu failed to hold her title after she went down to Taiwan’s Tai Tzu-Ying 17-21, 13-21 on Friday.
