Bhubaneswar: More than 800 Cadets and Old Boys of Sainik School participated in the 5th Biju Marathon with great enthusiasm which was organised as part of Diamond Jubilee celebration of the school on Saturday.
The marathon was renamed ‘Diamond Jubilee Marathon’ of Sainik School, Bhubaneswar to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of the school.
Old Boys’ Association and OMC jointly conducted the event with a purpose to spread the message of clean, green and healthy Bhubaneswar and the spirit of ‘Run for Fun’.
The event was flagged off by Group Captain S Dominic Rayan, Principal, Sainik School, Bhubaneswar. He was joined by OBA president Hardaman Singh, vice-president Madhusudan Padhi and former president of OBA Amitav Swain.
The run started from Gandhi Stadium of the school and went through Nalco– Kalinga Hospital Square, Jaydev Vihar, Acharya Vihar, Apollo Hospital and culminated at the starting point. The participants covered a distance of 7.3 km.
Administrative Officer Cdr Pritika Sharma and vice-principal Cdr Usha Sangwan, coordinated the mega event. The Marathon mwas conducted by Sr Master B Pradhan and AK Mukherjee.
Cadet Jeevan Dehury was the winner in senior category and Arnav Deepak Barik won in OBEAN category. In girls category, cadet D Eleana Maria was the
winner while Cdt Manish Chhatar stood first in junior boys category.
The awards were presented by Transport and Commerce Minister Padmanav Behera.
