Ahmedabad: Cadila Pharmaceuticals, one of the largest pharma companies in the country. has shut down its manufacturing plant in Ahmedabad after 26 employees tested positive for COVID-19.
All the 95 employees at the plant are under quarantine and sanitization work has begun in the plant.
“Recently, 26 of our employees from our Dholka manufacturing facility tested positive for COVID-19. Following this, we have closed our operations on our own,” a company statement said on Thursday.
According to government officials, five employees had tested positive for the virus six days back. Thereafter, 30 more employees were tested and 21 of them were found positive this week.
Cadila is also in the race to develop a COVID-19 vaccine and has manufacturing facilities in other parts of India and in Ethiopia.
