Bhubaneswar: Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena on Tuesday issued a clarification on the opening of optometrist/opticians or optical shops during the COVID-induced lockdown.
“It has come to our notice that in some districts optometrist/opticians/optical shops are being closed during the lockdown. These are health/medical-related services hence exempted from lockdowns,” he tweeted.
All collectors/ municipal commissioners have been informed about the same, he added.
To check the spread of the infection during the festive occasion of Raja and Savitri, the Odisha government had extended the lockdown till June 17.
Schools, colleges and other educational institution, religious places, cinema halls, gyms, spas, salons and beauty parlour will remain shut in the state during this period. Bus services will also remain suspended.
