New Delhi: Wearing a cloth mask over a disposable surgical mask is likely to significantly reduce a person’s exposure to the coronavirus.
This was revealed during laboratory experiments conducted by health officials in the US. The report was published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
“One can wear a surgical mask and a cloth mask or two cloth masks. However, with N95 masks, doubling is not needed. This is advisable at crowded places where social distancing is not possible,” director of the internal medicine department at Delhi’s Max Saket Dr Rommel Tickoo told The Times of India.
Since many masks don’t fit perfectly on the face, wearing two of these can reduce the “exhaled respiratory droplets and aerosols” from those who are infected, expert opined.
