Surrey, British Columbia: Three Indian nationals, including a teenager, have been arrested by Surrey Police Service (SPS) following an early morning extortion-linked shooting in the upscale Crescent Beach neighbourhood, according to reports.
Reports said SPS patrol unit heard gunshots near Crescent Road and 132 Street in the wee hours of February 1 and responded alongside Delta Police
and dog units. Officers spotted a fleeing suspect vehicle; its occupants ran on foot but were caught near 28 Avenue and 140 Street after entering a rideshare. The occupied residence sustained gunfire damage and had a small fence fire extinguished by Surrey Fire Services, with no injuries reported.
The three persons — described as Indian-origin men — are in custody, with two vehicles seized for forensic analysis. The arrested persons have been identified as Taranveer Singh (19), Harjot Singh (21) and Dayajeet Singh Billing (21), reports said.
No weapons recovered yet, and charges are pending as Major Crime Section probes links to ongoing extortions plaguing Surrey’s South Asian community. SPS engaged Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), signaling potential immigration implications.
