New Delhi: A group called ‘Indian Cyber Force’ claimed responsibility for the hacking of the official website of Canadian Armed Forces.

The Canadian Army website was temporarily disabled on Wednesday, The Telegraph reported.

The disruption began around noon and was rectified later, Daniel Le Bouthillier, head of media relations at the Department of National Defence, told The Globe and Mail.

“Canadian Airforce Website has been taken down,” Indian Cyber Force wrote in a post on social media platform X and shared a screenshot of the error message on the website.

According to The Globe and Mail report, some desktop users were able to access the website but most mobile devices could not.

The Canadian Forces, which oversees all military operations in Canada including the navy, special command groups, air and space operations, is investigating the issue.

Indian Cyber Force earlier expressed its discontent with Canadian government’s “allegations and anti-India politics”, warning them to “get ready to feel the power” of its attacks on Canadian cyberspace.

Diplomatic relations between India and Canada have been at an all-time low following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s claim that there were ‘credible allegations’ of involvement of Indian agents in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Nijjar on Canadian soil in June.

Indian government has dismissed the allegation, saying no credible evidence has been provided.
