New Delhi: Family members of the farmers killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence last October have moved a petition in Supreme Court seeking cancellation of Ashish Mishra’s bail.
Ashish, son of Union minister Ajay Mishra, had been granted bail by Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench on February 10 after being in custody for four months.
Eight people, including four farmers, were killed in UP’s Lakhimpur district where farmers were protesting against the controversial farm laws, which were subsequently withdrawn. Four farmers were allegedly run over by an SUV allegedly belonging to Ashish, while two BJP workers and a journalist lost their lives in the violence that followed.
