There’s good news for religious-minded people. Devotees can now order ‘prasad’ from the sacred Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir and have it delivered at their doorstep anywhere in India.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), which manages the temple, has arranged three categories of prasad for ‘home delivery’ on a no-profit, no-loss basis. It can be booked through the official website of the Board or through a dedicated mobile number (9906019475).
After remaining closed for nearly five months due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown, the shrine – located atop Trikuta hills in Reasi district — reopened on August 16.
The shrine Board said in a statement that it had entered into an agreement with the Department of Posts for the delivery of prasad to people across the country.
The agreement was signed on Saturday by CEO of the shrine Board Ramesh Kumar and Director (Headquarters), Postal Service, J-K, Gaurav Srivastava.
This novel initiative will help those devotees who could not undertake the yatra due to the global pandemic, the Board stated.
Earlier, the Board had offered a facility for devotees to perform ‘hawan’ or ‘puja’ in absentia, at the Yagya Shala.
