Can’t Move Out Files, Electronic Records Out Of Delhi Secretariat Without Prior Nod: New Order After BJP’s Win

New Delhi: Soon after BJP ended AAP’s rule in Delhi with a thumping victory on Saturday, the Delhi Secretariat prohibited taking files, documents, and electronic records out of the complex without approval and restricted entry for individuals into the premises, reports claimed. It also ordered the strengthening of security measures.

The General Administration Department (GAD), in an order on Saturday, stated that the decision was taken to safeguard documents and files, reported the India Today.

“It is therefore directed that necessary directions may be issued to the concerned Branch In-charges under the Departments/Offices situated in Delhi Secretariat to ensure safety of records, files, documents, electronic files etc. under their section/branches,” the order stated.

The order is applicable to all officers in the Secretariat, camp offices of ministers and in-charge of both the offices.

In a separate order, the department stated that the entry of private individuals into the Secretariat complex will be allowed only after proper verification of their identity and purpose of visit. Private security guards have been instructed to intensify surveillance on all floors. Officials have been instructed to ensure that CCTV cameras remain operational on all floors 24×7.

According to reports, the Secretariat also stated that cops and reception staff should also be sensitised in this regard. Some unconfirmed reports in the media also claimed that the Secretariat was completely sealed on Saturday. OdishaBytes couldn’t independently verify such claims. However, media reports also quoted officials dismissing such claims.

The BJP won 48 seats in the 70-member Assembly, making a comeback in the national capital after 27 years.
