New Delhi: The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of Delhi Police has registered 105 FIRs and arrested 36 people under a major operation against child pornography.
The operation dubbed ‘MASOOM’ (mitigation of adolescent sexually offensive online material) was coordinated by IFSO with cooperation from all district administrations, officials said.
According to police, IFSO received information about violations pertaining to child pornographic material — cyber tipline reports (CTRs) — through National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), which has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with US-based National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
Based on CTRs, 105 cases were registered at different police stations in Delhi and legal action taken against the offenders.
DCP (IFSO) Prashant Gautam said 36 people have been arrested or apprehended so far during the course of the major operation.
