Hyderabad: Police here have arrested a physiotherapist seven weeks after his wife and their two minor daughters died in what he had claimed to be a car accident.
Boda Praveen (32) and his family were travelling from Hyderabad to their native village in Khammam district on May 28 when the tragedy took place.
Praveen reported to police that their car had crashed into a roadside tree, resulting in the deaths of his 26-year-old wife Boda Kumari, and their daughters, aged 2 and 3.
When police visited the site, their suspicion was aroused.
A thorough investigation revealed that Praveen had orchestrated the entire scene to suppress the murders. The probe took a month and a half, but the truth finally came out and Praveen was arrested on Monday.
According to Khammam ACP SV Ramanamurthy, Praveen was in an extramarital relationship with a colleague at the hospital where he worked.
After his wife found out about his illicit affair, the couple had a heated argument. Praveen then decided to eliminate the obstacles to his relationship.
He confessed to administering a fatal injection to his wife under the pretext of treating her health issues. Once Boda Kumari passed away, Praveen strangled his daughters to death.
Thereafter, Praveen staged the ‘accident’ by crashing the car into a tree, hoping to pass off the gruesome murders as a mishap.
