Sambalpur: If you own a car and haven’t bought a helmet yet, then better be careful of the traffic cops!
In a weird incident, a car driver named Chandra Kumar was fined Rs 1000 for not wearing a helmet while driving his car in Odisha’s Sambalpur town.
During a vehicle checking near Radhanath Kalyan Mandap road in Mudipada, the Traffic Police handed over the challan of Rs 1000 to Chandra Kumar on Wednesday evening.
After being fined for an inappropriate offence, Chandra filed a complaint with the Sambalpur Regional Transport Office (RTO).
Speaking to the media, Sambalpur DSP Himanshu Behera stated that he has ordered a probe into the matter. The traffic police might have pressed the wrong code for helmetless driving while issuing the challan to the car driver, he added.
