Bhubaneswar: A major security breach occurred on Wednesday evening when a car unexpectedly drove into Chief Minister Mohan Majhi’s convoy just a few metres away from the Commissionerate Police headquarters in Odisha capital, raising serious concerns.
Alert security personnel quickly responded, stopped the vehicle, and completely surrounded it, preventing any po
ssible threat until the CM’s convoy had safely passed. The occupants were not permitted to exit the car until the convoy cleared the area.
After the convoy moved ahead, the driver was briefly questioned and subsequently let go, according to sources.
The breach has sparked widespread debate over how such a security breach was possible, given the rigorous protocols normally in place for VVIP movements. Serious concerns are being voiced about the apparent lack of proper barricading and the failure of checkpoint staff to stop the vehicle before it accessed the restricted route.
Considering the sensitivity and high-security nature of a Chief Minister’s convoy, the lapse in front of the Police Commissioner’s office is being viewed as extremely concerning.
