Berhampur: Two Bol Bam devotees died while 13 others sustained injuries after being hit by a car near Betnoi under Aska police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district, late on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Anita Jena (38) and Mukuna Behera (32).
According to sources, the accident took place when the group of Kanwariyas, carrying holy water from Rushikulya river, was heading towards Tadakeswar Temple. While Anita died on the spot, locals rescued the other injured in the mishap and rushed them to the Aska Sub-divisional Hospital. They were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, where Mukuna succumbed to his injuries. The condition of other injured, who are undergoing treatment at the hospital, is stated to be stable.
Six other Kanwariyas, accompanying them, escaped without any injury.
The Bol Bam devotees belong to Arakhapur village under Buguda block of the district.
