Mumbai: Actor Abhishek Bachchan knows exactly how to shut down a troller with dignity and grace.
Hours after the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday allowed movie theatres to reopen with 50 per cent capacity from October 15 in areas that fall outside containment zones, the actor expressed on Twitter only to rebuffed with, “But aren’t you still gonna be jobless?”
This how Abhishek responded: “That, alas, is in your (the audiences) hand. If you don’t like our work, we won’t get our next job. So we work to the best of our abilities and hope and pray for the best.”
Abhishek, who has been the internet’s punching bag for quite some time now. is known to respond to trolls with his typical subtle wit and a lot of humility.
1. And this is how he had responded on being called ‘unemployed’.
2. When a Twitter user pointed out that the actor (a Bollywood insider and son of megastar Amitabh Bachchan) had more social media followers than Prachi Desai (an outsider), he replied, “I assure you Mr Singhal the amount of followers you have on social media is by no means a barometer of acceptance or popularity or talent. My friend @ItsPrachiDesai is a very talented actor and doesn’t need social media to endorse that. Her work speaks for itself.”
3. When Abhishek and his father Amitabh Bachchan were admitted to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital with COVID-19, a social media user tried to shame his career with this post: “Ab kiske bharose baith ke khaoge? Abhishek replied, “Philhaal toh let let ke kha rahe hai dono ek saath hospital mein (For now, we are both lying down and eating together in hospital).” The haters continued saying very few have the privilege of “let ke khana”.
4. Twitter exchange between him and a stand-up comedian Karan Talwar aka @BollywoodGandu.
“Life is not about answers but questions. Where is my career going? Am I making enough money? Why am I still following @juniorbachchan?”
5. In 2018, a Twitter user posted, “Don’t feel bad about your life. Just remember @juniorbachchan still lives with his parents. Keep hustling everyone!”
