Carpenter Murdered After Altercation In Odisha’s Kendrapada



Kendrapada: A man died after being allegedly attacked with a wooden plank and a brick at a village in Mahakalapada area of Odisha’s Kendrapada district.

According to sources, the incident took place at Ramnagar village under the jurisdiction of Jambu Marine Police Station in Mahakalapada block late on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified


as Tapan Das (50) of the same village. The accused, identified as Sanjay Mandal of the same village, has been arrested.

Locals said Sanjay was creating a disturbance in the village late at night by abusing the villagers using objectionable words. Tapan, a carpenter, intervened and advised him not to engage in such behaviour, which led to an altercation between the two.

Infuriated by this, the accused attacked Tapan with a wooden plank and a brick. The assault caused severe head injuries, resulting in heavy bleeding.

Tapan was immediately rushed to the Kendrapada District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical condition. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Following the incident, the deceased’s wife, Nilu Das, lodged a written complaint at the Jambu Marine Police Station.

Acting on the complaint, police apprehended the accused and took him to the police station for questioning. Further investigation is on to ascertain the circumstances that led to the fatal assault.
