New Delhi: Passengers can now carry alcohol on Delhi Metro trains.

However, there is a limit of up to two sealed bottles of alcohol per person.

“2 sealed bottles of alcohol is allowed in Delhi Metro,” Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted in response to a user’s query, which was subsequently deleted.

Earlier, CISF security personnel used to confiscate any liquor bottle — opened and unopened — at Metro station premises. The only exception was on Delhi Metro’s Airport Express Line.

“However, subsequently, a committee comprising officials from the CISF and DMRC have reviewed the list and as per the revised list, two sealed bottles of alcohol per person is allowed to be carried on the Delhi Metro at par with the provisions on the Airport Express Line,” DMRC said in a statement.

Consuming alcohol inside Metro premises, however, remains strictly prohibited.

DMRC requested Metro passengers to maintain proper decorum while travelling.
