Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday directed DCP, Bhubaneswar to file an affidavit on the steps taken in the case filed by a web news portal against international sprinter Dutee Chand.
The web portal had filed a petition in the High Court seeking its intervention as the police were not taking any steps on its complaint that the athlete had made offensive comments on the portal. The portal stated that it had filed a complaint in this regard at Laxmisagar police station in Bhubaneswar.
After hearing the petition on August 11, the High Court had directed the DCP to take action on the complaint and submit the report within 4 weeks. As the DCP did not file the report within the scheduled time, the wife of the portal’s editor had moved the High Court.
On Friday, the government advocate on behalf of the DCP presented the report in the court. The High Court expressed its dissatisfaction on the report and directed the DCP to file the affidavit by October 28.
