Bhubaneswar: Thieves cut open the shutters of at least four medicine shops on AIIMS road in Khandagiri area here on Friday night and made off with cash and medicines worth over Rs 3 lakh.
The thieves reportedly damaged the CCTV cameras of the shops and took away its hard disks to evade detection. No arrests have been made yet.
The medicine shopowners said though there was police patrolling, it was surprising how the thieves broke into the shops.
A couple of weeks back, a jewellery shop was burgled in the same area and ornaments worth Rs 1 crore were reportedly looted. The police have not been able to solve that case either, posing serious questions on the law and order situation in the city.
