Nayagarh: Unidentified miscreants reportedly looted cash worth over lakhs of rupees from the hundi of Ladu Baba temple at Sarankul in Odisha’s Nayagarh district late on Friday.

Sources said the incident came to light the following morning after the temple priest noticed that three locks of the hundi kept outside the main temple were broken and informed the police.

An FIR was later lodged in Sarankul police station.

The CCTV camera installed on the temple premises has captured images of two unidentified youths near the hundi, sources added.

Since the temple authorities had not opened the hundi for more than a year, it is estimated that it had cash worth over lakhs of rupees.

Police has begun investigation into the incident.
