The country has been gasping for breath amid the tsunami of coronavirus cases in the deadly second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
The healthcare infrastructure is under extreme stress, with hospitals struggling to provide beds to COVID-positive patients. Shortage of medical oxygen and critical drugs like Remdesivir have not made things any easier. Amidst all this, a group of selfish and unethical people have hoarded these essential products for COVID treatment is selling them at a huge premium.
Several people have been caught red-handed for resorting to such anti-national acts, but many of them are still at large.
To counter these blackmarketeers, the Jalandhar district administration in Punjab has announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for any sting operation/concrete information that leads to FIR registration vis-à-vis selling of oxygen cylinders, Remdesvir, Tocilizumab in the black market, for overcharging RT-PCR test or any other activity related to COVID management.
