Balasore: A youth, allegedly engaged in illegal cattle transportation, dies after jumping off a bridge near Rajghat checkpoint during police checking in Odisha’s Balasore on Sunday.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, the cattle were being smuggled to West Bengal from Bhadrak district. Police rescued around 200 cattle from three containers and detained nine persons in this connection. Around one lakh cash was also recovered from another vehicle.
A probe has been initiated into illegal cattle smuggling.
