CB arrests seven inter-state criminal in insurance fraud case

Bhubaneswar: The state Crime Branch (CB) on Monday arrested seven inter-state criminals in connection with an insurance fraud case.
The accused identified as Akash Singh, Ritesh Singh, Avinash Kumar Singh, Jaypal Singh, Ramraj Singh Parmar, Pradeep Kumar and Prem Shankar Viswakarma have been booked under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Information Technology Act, an official said.
They were nabbed from Delhi, Faridabad and Noida, basing on a complaint lodged at the cyber crime police station in Cuttack by Laxmidhar Hota of Tarapur in March last year.
The accused had cheated the complainant of Rs 5.5 lakh by promising him to clear the maturity amount of his Tata AIG insurance policy.
Apart from Rs 44,11,420 in cash, the crime branch officials seized mobile phones, SIM cards, debit and credit cards from the accused persons.
