Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two officials of Postal department on bribe charge in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
According to official sources, the CBI was informed that the two officials, Rubi Das, postal inspector of Badasahi sub-post office and overseer Sushant Kumar Das, were demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 from Ajit Kumar Rout, assistant postmaster, Manatri Deopada post office in the district.
Rubi and Sushant were demanding the bribe for permitting Rout to get increment in his salary. Following the information, the CBI set a trap to nab Rubi and Sushant while taking the bribe.
As per the plan, the CBI sleuths caught the postal inspector and overseer red-handed while accepting the bribe and arrested them.
The CBI officials also seized the bribe money from their possession. The CBI has launched further investigation to get more details.
