Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has reportedly arrested 3 persons for their involvement in triple train accident at Bahanaga Bazaar railway station in Odisha’s Balasore district.
As per reports, the CBI has arrested senior Section engineer Arun Kumar Mohanta, section engineer Mohammad Amir Khan and technician Pappu Kumar. They have been charged under Sections 304 and 201 of CrPC.
The CBI has found the three Railway officials responsible for causing the accident. Besides, they attempted to hide the evidence, the reports said.
It may be noted that as many as 293 people were killed and 1,200 others injured in one of the worst train accidents in the country. Two superfast trains – Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express and Bengaluru-Howrah Express – and a goods train were involved in a rare collision on the night of June 2.
The CBI officials had raided the house of Khan at Soro in the district and interrogated him. They also questioned the station master of the railway station SP Mohanty during their investigation. The Central agency took over the investigation from Government Railway Police (GRP) on recommendation of the Railway Board.
