Bhubaneswar: The CBI on Wednesday confirmed having arrested retired Odisha Administrative Services (OAS) officer and former Cuttack collector Pradeep Kumar Hota in connection with the multi-crore chit fund scam involving Seashore Group of Companies.
Pradeep, who was arrested from his residence located at CDA Sector-6 in Cuttack, was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as he fell sick. He was earlier grilled by the CBI in 2014.
The accused officer had allegedly extended undue favours to the Ponzi firm when he was the managing director of Agricultural Promotion and Investment Corporation Limited (APICOL) from 2008 to 2011.
The Seashore Group had allegedly transferred Rs 19.70 lakh to Hota’s joint account.
The CBI has also summoned his son Debashish to appear before it for questioning. He was working as manager of Seashore Tours and Travels.
