CBI Arrests Top SAI Officials On Charges Of Corruption

New Delhi: Cracking the whip on incidences of corruption in Sports Authority of India (SAI), CBI on Thursday arrested its director S K Sharma along with three other officials on charges of demanding commission to clear bills.

Besides, private contractors Mandeep Ahuja and his employee Yunus were also arrested, media reports said.

The arrests were made after the sleuths swooped down on SAI headquarters at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium this afternoon and conducted search operations. Interrogations of officials were still underway. The search followed a tip of that the top SAI officials were demanding three per cent commission to clear bills worth Rs 19 lakh.

News agency ANI quoted SAI director general Neelam Kapoor as saying that there is zero tolerance for corruption in SAI. “We will support any action against corruption,” she said.
