CBI Chargesheet Against Bhubaneswar-Based YouTuber For Claims On Sridevi’s Death

New Delhi: A Bhubaneswar-based YouTuber is in trouble for making sensational claims about superstar Sridevi’s death.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against self-styled investigator Deepti R Pinniti alleging that she had cited in a YouTube video “forged” letters from dignitaries like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, to support claims about the death of Sridevi.

The Bollywood superstar died in Dubai five years ago after drowning in a bathtub.

CBI had registered a case against Deepti and her lawyer Bharath Suresh Kamath last year after a complaint by Mumbai-based lawyer Chandni Shah that was referred to the agency by Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), reported PTI.

The lawyer alleged that Deepti produced letters from the PM and Defence Minister, along with documents related to the Supreme Court and records from the UAE government, which appeared to be forged.

Based on her “investigations”, Deepti claimed that a “cover-up” between the Indian and UAE governments.

“The suspect Deepti Rani Pinniti has time and again maligned the image of the present government by bizarrely accusing the government as the sponsor of the death of Sridevi,” the complainant said in her complaint.

Deepti told PTI she was in disbelief about CBI’s chargesheet.

“It’s kind of hard to believe that the CBI has filed a chargesheet against me without recording my statement… Moreover, the evidence will be given to court when charges are framed. When the letters in question are incriminating against the very authorities under whom the CBI comes, CBI becomes a party of conflict to be the entity to collect evidence,” she said.

CBI conducted searches at her residence in Bhubaneswar on December 2, seizing phones and laptops.

Deepti has been an active participant in social media discussions on the death of Sridevi as well as Sushant Singh Rajput.
