New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a disproportionate assets case against former Allahabad High Court judge SN Shukla.
The case pertains to the ex-judge and his wife allegedly amassing assets worth Rs 2.45 crore which are not proportionate to his known source o
f income during his tenure as High Court judge between 2014 and 19.
Justice Shukla, who retired in 2020, had faced another corruption case a few years ago.
CBI had registered a case against the then-sitting Allahabad High Court judge along with IM Quddusi, retired Chhattisgarh High Court judge, and four others for obtaining a favourable order to a Lucknow-based medical college in lieu of money.
A Supreme Court probe found that Justice Shukla was guilty of gross misconduct, following which then-CJI Dipak Misra had recommended his impeachment in 2018.
But he escaped impeachment, even though Justice Misra’s successor Justice Ranjan Gogoi followed it up with the Central government.
