Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended the principal of an Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Nuapada district of Odisha in a bribery case, the central agency said on Thursday.
In a statement, the agency said that a case was registered against the principal on Wednesday following allegations that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant for recommending her name for extension of her service as Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) at EMRS in Nuapada.
Following negotiations, the accused agreed to accept Rs 12,000 from the complainant, the CBI said.
The agency subsequently laid a trap on October 7 and allegedly caught the principal red-handed while accepting the Rs 12,000 bribe from the complainant.
The accused principal was apprehended and further investigation is underway, it said.
The central probe agency has not disclosed the identity of the accused in its information note.
