Hyderabad: Officials of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) questioned Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo and Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha at her Banjara Hills home.
The questioning is in connection with the Delhi liquor scam.
CBI had wanted to quiz Kavitha on December 6, but she informed the central agency that she would be available at her Hyderabad residence on December 11, 12, 14 and 15 for questioning related to the probe.
Kavitha is under Enforcement Directorate (ED) scanner. ED alleged in a recent remand copy before a Delhi court that the legislator had changed her phones and numbers during the period of the alleged excise policy scam.
CBI is conducting a parallel investigation in the case.
ED’s remand copy of arrested Gurugram businessman Amit Arora, who is alleged to be an aide of prime accused Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia, states that TRS MLC Kavitha was among 35 persons contacted by Arora over the past one year.
Arora, director of Gurugram-based Buddy Retail, allegedly contacted Kavitha ten times through two different numbers belonging to her.
The ED also claimed that Vijay Nair, another key accused in the Delhi liquor policy scam, received kickbacks worth at least Rs 100 crore from what it called the ‘South Group’ controlled by Sarath Reddy, K Kavitha and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy.
KCR’s daughter, former MP from Nizamabad, was named by ED in the liquor scam on November 30.
ED has alleged that 32 suspects — including politicians like Kavitha, Sisodia and Kailash Gehlot — changed phones and numbers multiple times during the period when the alleged excise policy scam took place.
The Delhi government scrapped its new Excise Policy after Lt Gov VK Saxena recommended a CBI investigation into the matter.
